    NOTE: solve problems 3.1, 3.3, and 3.5 using mesh analysis, even if the problem statement asks for nodal analysis!
  • Homework #5 (due 2/21/17): 4.2, 4.7, 4.13, 4.31, 4.33, 4.37, 4.44, 4.51, 4.60(a,b),4.86 [Sols]

You can retrieve already graded homework from the TA's office at EBU1 2113

Exams

Midterm on 2/9/17, in class. You can download the midterm here and the midterm solution here
Final on 3/21/17, 11:30am-2:30pm, in Center Hall, room 101. You can download the final here and the final solution here

Grades

The formula to compute the grade is
    grade = max(0.2 * homework + 0.3 * midterm + 0.5 * final, final)

Even if you count on getting the overall grade with only the final, you should still turn in all your homework. Past experiences reveal that it is nearly impossible to get a good grade in the final without having first done the homework.

You can check your grade online via TritonEd

Cool linear circuit experiment from MAE171a

Check out the following linear circuit experiment and the accompanying lecture from MAE171a "Mechanical Engineering Laboratory I" (prepared by Professor Raymond de Callafon)

You will really need to master all the material from MAE140 to perform the experiment successfully!

Past Years Websites

You might want to check out the websites for

where you will find links to older offerings of this class. In particular, you should find old midterm and final exams quite useful to prepare for ours!

MAE Math Open House

The MAE Math Open House is open to all students enrolled in the MAE Department, regardless of grade. You bring questions, we help you understand the concepts! We are a few engineering students and faculty who want to help you build your mathematical foundation for your engineering courses. See our calendar for hours and location. If you can't come to the session, tweet or instagram us at @UCSD_MAE_Math with your question and we'll respond in 24 hours. Like our Facebook page to post questions, get feedback, and see what your friends are asking.
